Ad Specs

  1. 1All ads will spawn (open) a new browser window on click (see Technical Product Information for Click Tag Format).
  2. 2In-banner animation of any form can run for a maximum of 15 seconds without being re-initiated by the user. The animation can loop a maximum of 3 times within the 15 second limit.
  3. 3All ad units will have an "Advertisement" label automatically inserted alongside them by Fisher Interactive Network.
  4. 4All audio must be user initiated with a click. Audio must have clear on/off switch with a click or roll over.
  5. 5All Flash ads must be built using ActionScript 2.
  6. 6All ads must have a minimum of a 1 pixel border (stroke) to clearly distinguish advertising from editorial content.
  7. 7All ads must have the advertiser clearly identified.
  8. 8Ads should not mislead users into navigating to a site that is unrelated to content of the banner ad.
  9. 9Ads may not be designed to blend into the screen to give the appearance of Fisher Interactive Network (FIN) sites content/functionality.
  10. 10Ads may not emulate Fisher Interactive Network (FIN) sites style buttons.
  11. 11All public policy, advocacy, political or candidate advertising must include a "Paid for by " label on all frames of the ad. It must be clear who placed the ad.
  12. 12We do not accept advertisements that intend to influence search engine rankings. To this end, any hard-coded paid link must contain the rel=”nofollow” tag.
  13. 13No “pop-ups” or “pop-under” ads can be served on FIN sites.
  14. 14All non-user initiated rich media ads must be reviewed by FIN Director of Design prior to scheduling and are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  15. 15Frequency Capping may be imposed on all ads that, without user initiation, obstruct content such as floating ads, sliding billboards, and interstitials, among others. Cookies are used to set frequency caps of once per user in any 24-hour period
  16. 16Ads that incorporate misleading faux functionality are not permitted on Fisher Interactive Network (FIN) sites. Examples of faux functionality include graphic and/or text elements designed to mimic PC/Mac operating system commands and functions, false close “X” boxes, system warnings, and faux windows dialogue boxes. Ads should not mislead users into navigating to a site that is unrelated to content of the banner ad.
